Bill Hillman established The Mansion Glass Company in 1973. Over
the years Mansion Glass has become one of the country's leading
glass commission studios. To date it has produced over 3000
one-of-a-kind stained glass installations for churches,
residences, hospitals, restaurants, banks hotels and casinos.
In addition his
on-going role with Mansion Glass, Hillman has created many
autonomous pieces shown in galleries and museums. His work has
been featured in Glass Magazine, Glass Studio Magazine, Artweek,
House Beautiful, and numerous other publications. In 1984, a
commission by Spectrum Glass Company to create a design that used
their entire line of glass in one window evolved into the now
famous Bill Hillman "Marble Poster" that resides, among other
places, in the Smithsonian Institute.
Bill is a
National Merit Scholarship winner and a graduate of The Evergreen
State College with a degree in Psychology. He has also worked as a
therapist and as a staff member of the Washington State Arts
Commission. His interest in travel, astronomy and history are
often reflected in his gallery art glass pieces.
